Miami International Airport is at the top of many lists: it’s the 12th busiest U.S. airport in passengers, the third busiest in international passengers and for many of those passengers it also ranks as one of the least traveler-friendly airports due to chronically long lines and dated terminal facilities. To address these issues, the airport has undertaken a $4.8 billion capital improvement program that will add 2.7 million square feet of new areas and significantly expand existing areas. Currently, the airport consists of a large semi-circle terminal with eight concourses extending from it like piers. American Airlines, operating out of Concourses B, C and D, uses the airport as an international hub. Over 15 other domestic airlines and 35 international airlines also service the airport offering over 100 nonstop flights to North, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe. As an important gateway to Central and South America, Miami’s airport will continue to be a popular destination and we hope that renovations will make it a more pleasant one as well.
