Pittsburgh International Airport has a good reputation. It’s been ranked among the top airports in the U.S. and the world by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, J.D. Power and Associates and OAG (Official Airline Guide) in recent years. This can be credited in part to the airport’s easy-to-navigate hub and spoke gate system and over a hundred shops and restaurants which are mandated to not over-charge. The airport has a large landside terminal (landside meaning before security) and four concourses. Gate E, the closest concourse to the terminal, serves commuter flights. The rest of the concourses, Gates A, B, C and D, are spokes off of a central building called Core. The airport is served by over 15 major airlines and several regional jet services offering 600 nonstop flights per day to 118 destinations. The dominant presence at the airport is US Airways, which uses the airport as its largest domestic and international hub.
