Southwest Florida International Airport is located on Florida’s subtropical Gulf Coast southeast of Fort Myers. As a popular vacation destination with both American and international travelers, the airport is served by 16 domestic and four international airlines providing nonstop service to over 31 airports including Dusseldorf and Frankfort, Germany and Toronto, Canada. The airport currently consists of a two-level terminal building with two concourses extending from it. To accommodate projected increases in passenger numbers, the airport is constructing a new Midfield Terminal Complex, which is scheduled to open in Spring 2005. The $438 million project includes a 798,000-square-foot terminal with 28 gates and room to add more.
